T.G.I. Friday's first restaurant opened in New York City and forty years later with restaurants in 58 countries all over the world, T.G.I. Friday's still continue to provide an environment where families and individuals alike can have a great dining experience. As part of its global revitalization program T.G.I. Friday's nine outlets throughout Malaysia have or are currently given a more updated look in keeping up with recent trends and popular culture. Restaurants in Sunway Pyramid, Pavilion, The Curve and Queensbay Mall already feature the new look whilst renovation works will be carried out to the ones in Subang Parade and Life Centre soon. Visiting the restaurant in Sunway Pyramid, I had the privilege to taste some of the items from the new menu line up as T.G.I Friday's has introduced more than 17 new items which made their debut on August 1, 2008 on our shores. Apart from introducing new and bold flavours to their range of appetizers, entrees, desserts and even beverages, T.G.I Fridays also features a new Lifestyle Menu for the very first time with showcases Dragonfire Chicken, Shanghai Chicken Salad, Garlic Chicken Primavera and Key West Grouper.
Sesame Jack Chicken Strip
Sesame Jack Chicken Strip (RM17.90) – Golden brown, chicken breast strips coated with crispy panko breadcrumbs with the extra crunch of toasted sesame seeds and tossed in T.G.I Friday's famous Jack Daniel's sauce. This was really addictive and on the sweet side, a crispy and flavourful appetizer.
Slush Drinks
We were also served three of T.G.I. Friday's new slush drinks. There's the Green Apple Slush; a mixture of green apple and Sprite. Blue Raspberry Slush was a mix of blue raspberry flavoring, Minute Maid Lemonade and Sprite. My favourite and in my opinion a slightly thicker mix is the Strawberry Lemonade Slush with a blend of lovely strawberries and Minute Maid Lemonade.
Fried Mac & Cheese
Back to appetizers, we had the Fried Mac & Cheese (RM12.90). Cubes of breaded creamy cheese and elbow noodles golden fried to perfection. Best eaten warm, these are irresistible especially to cheese lovers and kids.
Double Stack Quesadillas
From the Southwest section, we had the Double Stack Quesadillas (RM24.90) - Chargrilled chicken, Colby and Jack cheeses and caramelized onions and peppers double stacked in flour tortillas and served with savory rice, fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and salsa. Rich and bursting with flavours, this is another must for cheese lovers and those with a hearty appetite! The rice was also fragrant and I absolutely loved the spicy salsa.
Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp
Next up, Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp (RM32.90) is another hearty serving of sauteed garlic-marinated chicken breast and plump shrimp tossed with zesty roma tomato-basil salsa. Served with onions and peppers and T.G.I Friday's cheddar cheese, mashed potatoes on a sizzling platter of melted Colby and Jack cheeses, this main dish definitely knows how to make a sizzling entry alright!
Tuscan Chicken Melt
For sandwich lovers, the Tuscan Chicken Melt (RM19.90) delivers with fire-grilled diced chicken, mozzarella and Jack cheeses, roasted onions and tomatoes. All pressed together between two slices of buttery bread, it's literally oozing with yummy goodness. It's also served with a choice of crispy fries or Clam Chowder. Don't let this this sandwich fool you, it's one “filling” order!
Shanghai Chicken Salad
From the Lifestyle menu; Shanghai Chicken Salad (RM21.90) was refreshing with a medley of chilled fire-grilled citrus chicken breast served over mixed greens, tossed with fresh low fat Cilantro-lime dressing, Mandarin oranges and diced tomatoes. I love biting into the bits of Mandarin oranges each time I took a mouthful of the salad as the juices tantalize my taste buds further.
Key West Grouper
Not forgetting fish lovers, T.G.I Fridays new line up also includes Key West Grouper (RM29.90) - roasted mild whitefish topped with a sparkling citrus splash and served with seasonal vegetables.
And just when you think you can't possibly have any tummy room for T.G.I Fridays lovely desserts, you might find that resistance is futile as they now have a new range of Dessert Minis which are flavoured custards served in shot glasses. Selection of 1 – RM3.90, 3 – RM9.90 and all 5 – RM15.90.
Dessert Minis
Chocolate Oreo Mint Crunch – irresistible velvety, chocolate-mint custard covered with crunchy Oreo cookie crumbles.
Strawberry Parfait – Delectable, creamy rich vanilla custard crowned with a juicy-fresh strawberry. My favourite as I love strawberries!
Tropical Delight – Scrumptious coconut custard sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes and pieces of fresh sweet pineapple.
Snicker Treat – Decadent, sweet chocolate custard covered with chunks of chewy Snickers bar.
Mocha Latte – Luscious mocha custard topped with fresh whipped cream and dusted with cocoa powder.
